6.Help with internet bills and broadband infrastructure
$7 billion has been included in the new legislation to expand access to high-speed internet connections as more families have had to deal with remote work and school amid the coronavirus pandemic. Some $3.2 billion is expected to help cover the cost of monthly internet bills. Low income families will get up to $50 per month to help with their bill. Another $300 million will go toward building out the infrastructure in underserved rural areas that have historically suffered from slow internet speeds while $1 billion in grants will go toward tribal broadband programs.
