'Rocket League' Patch with Hoops Mode Arrives, Includes 30 NBA Team Flags

"Rocket League" fans have all the more reason to play the game now that the April patch has arrived. According to a report by PC Gamer, developer Psyonix has dropped its free update bringing along with it its new "Hoops" mode. Players can now play a 2-on-2 basketball game with the rocket propelled cars.

As detailed in Venture Beat, the mode will have gamers putting the ball up in the air and through an arched rim instead of into a soccer-style goal. And though it seems like it doesn't make much of a difference from the soccer-style mode, Pysonix has made it unique by adding new strategies and various techniques that must be used in order to successfully complete the game.

The ball of the game is noted to be bouncier too and the court smaller. Gamers will also observe that the ball changes its color whenever it switches between the two sides of the court. And to stick to the game's theme as a basketball match, cars make the sound of sneakers squeaking on polished wood whenever they turn. A man is also heard in the background shouting "slam dunk" whenever a team scores.

Game Spot also cited that the "Hoops" mode will be played on a map called "Dunk House." Aside from that, there is another new content in the free update that players can opt to get. Psyonix has added officially licensed NBA flags. However, while the mode is free, all 30 team flags will be available for sale. There is a free NBA logo flag available for everyone though. There's also a Witcher Medallion antenna and Euro Truck Simulator items.

"Rocket League" already has about 14 million players. It continues to grow especially with Psyonix introducing free updates like Hoops, which has helped in particular increases and achievements like 100,000 simultaneous online players on the Steam PC gaming service.
